Bull Shannon: The Long and Tall of the Story

Bull Shannon was a character on the popular television show Night Court, which ran from 1984 to 1992. The show was a comedy-drama that took place in a New York City night court, and followed the antics of the court’s judges and staff.

Bull Shannon, played by actor Richard Moll, was the court’s bailiff. He was a towering figure, standing at over six feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds. He had a distinctive deep voice and a gruff exterior, but he was also a kind-hearted and loyal friend to the other characters on the show.

Bull’s role on the show was mainly to provide comic relief, as well as to act as a foil to the other characters’ antics. He was often seen getting into physical altercations with defendants and other characters, but his intimidating size was usually enough to resolve any problems. Despite his tough exterior, Bull had a soft spot for animals and often came to the rescue of the court’s stray cats and dogs.

Bull’s backstory was revealed throughout the series, he was a Vietnam War veteran and it was revealed that he had a fear of flying, claustrophobia, he also been married but divorced.

Off-screen, actor Richard Moll was a favorite among the cast and crew, and his larger-than-life personality and sense of humor made him a hit with fans of the show as well. He was a regular cast member throughout the show’s nine-season run and his character remained a staple of the series until its end.

Night Court was a popular and critically acclaimed series, and Bull Shannon played an important role in making the show a success. The character’s mix of comedy and drama, as well as his endearing personality, made him a fan favorite and a memorable part of the series.
