How Old Is Markie Post?

Markie Post was born on November 04, 1950 and died on August 07, 2021

She was 70 years old.

Post was born on Palo Alto, California, the daughter of scientist Richard F. Post and poet Marylee Post.

Post earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis & Clark College and then embarked on a television career … in game show production.

Among her behind-the-scenes-fun-show credits were Split Second, Double Dare, Card Sharks, Pyramid, and Password.

Then, in 1979, Post flipped around to the other side of the camera, landing guest roles on a long line of television dramas, sitcoms, and game shows through the middle of the 1980s.

Among her credits during this period were appearances on …

  • The Gangster Chronicles
  • The Greatest American Hero
  • Simon & Simon
  • McClain’s Law
  • Code Red
  • Massarati and the Brain
  • Not Just Another Affair
  • The Love Boat
  • The Fall Guy
  • Six Pack
  • Matt Houston
  • Cheers
  • Match Game
  • Go
  • Fantasy Island
  • The A-Team
  • The $10,000 Pyramid
  • Glitter
  • Scene of the Crime
  • Body Language
  • Hotel

Of course, Post is most well-known for her role as public defender Christine Sullivan on Night Court from 1984 through 1992. She was a strong, compassionate foil for prosecutor Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) and the perfect will-they-won’t-they tension-builder with Judge Harry Stone (Harry Anderson).

Post was actually the second regular to star as a public defender opposite Larroquette’s Fielding, replacing Ellen Foley, who played PD Billie Young in earlier seasons. Young, incidentally, has also had a successful music career, including singing with Meat Loaf.

As soon as Night Court concluded, Post moved on to star opposite John Ritter in Hearts Afire from 1992 through 1995.

Post’s last regular, recurring role was on the short-lived Odd Man Out in the fall of 1999 and very early 2000.

Post has also appeared in nine movies.

Since the early 2000s, most of Post’s roles have come in short arcs — often just one episode — on a variety of TV series.

Post passed away from complications of cancer on August 7, 2021.
