How Old Is Jack Abbott

Jack Abbott was born on June 29, 1953.

(Note: Some sources have Jack’s birth year as 1954.)

Jack was born in Genoa City in either 1953 or 1954 as the first child of John and Gina Abbott.

Gina abandoned the family when Jack is just thirteen, leaving housekeeper and nanny Mamie Johnson to step in nd fill the maternal role for the young man and his two younger sisters, Ashley and Traci.

Beginning when he was 19, Jack served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, an engagement that would spur love affair and produce a child, all of which would come back to affect Jack’s life later on.

It wasn’t until July of 1980, though, that fans of The Young and the Restless were introduced to Jack as the prodigal — and arrogant — son of John, who had by that point built Jabot Cosmetics into a giant.

Originally portrayed by Terry Lester from 1980 through 1989, Jack also landed in the hands of Brett Porter for a spell in 1986.

When Lester quit the show in 1989, though, Peter Bergman stepped into the role, and he’s been there ever since.

Given his long run as Jack, it’s hardly surprising that Bergman is the face that pops into most fans’ minds when the Abbott bigwig comes up in conversation.

And Bergman has even taken his act on the road, appearing in character in episodes of The Nanny and King of Queens.

Like many other Y & R characters, Jack also found some crossover airtime with a cameo on The Bold and the Beautiful back in 1998.

And, of course, Jack has run the gamut of relationships on The Young and the Restless, from his Vietnamese girlfriend to his father’s wife to his rival’s wife (that would be Nikki Newman, of Victor Newman fame), and just about every sort of fling you could imagine wedged in between.
