Tragedy is no stranger to humans beings whether we are average people or famous. It befalls us all and even some of the cast of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
If you look at the main cast they seem to have a pretty high percentage of tragedy. Some tragedy is self imposed and some is just bad luck.
Let’s see what they have been up to.
Legal Troubles
Since playing principal Ed Rooney, actor Jeffrey Jones, ended up on the sex offenders’ registry. It is pretty creepy that he played a principal from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Below is a clip of his better times playing principal Rooney .
A Blood Infection On The Brain
Many years after Alan Ruck played uptight and self proclaimed sick person, Cameron Frye, Ruck had a brush with a potentially deadly infection classified as Streptococcal Type G.
It infected his blood and then affected his brain, but luckily his body rallied and he made a full recovery. Good thing too because he has been busily acting in TV series and movies since.
Watch the clip below to see Cameron decide if should get out of bed and go on an adventure with Ferris. I think he made the right choice!
Bad Nose Job
Jennifer Grey played Ferris’ sister Jeanie Bueller to perfection. Too bad that later in life she decided to get her signature nose repaired. After her surgery, strangers and close friends alike did not recognize her and her nose job almost ruined her career.
She continues to act in movies and TV series but she has added voice acting now too. Is that because she looks so different?
The next clip is the one where Jeanie is home alone and she faces off with an intruder. It’s pretty funny that the intruder ends up being principal Rooney and not Ferris like she expected. Mr. Rooney gets his get’s his nose handed to him in this scene. No pun intended.
Dementia Concerns
Edie McClurg played principal Rooney’s righteous secretary Grace. However, recently her family filed a conservatorship claiming that she is suffering from dementia. Too bad for Edie because she has a long list of movies, TV, and voice acting.
In this clip from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off she shows off her comedic acting. Her character is very typical of the characters that Edie plays. The mom type with funny one liners all delivered with a cheeky smile.
Conduct Unbecoming a Person
Charlie Sheen played the “Boy in Police Station.” In real life I wonder how many times he’s seen a police station for real? I don’t really know the answer to that but he sure has said and done some outrageously low things. So much so that he self-destructed his career and family.
But in true Charlie Sheen fashion he has shoved it in everyone’s face and started acting again. He is one shocking person and yet somehow he makes it work for him.
Below is the clip that shows Charlie Sheen being Charlie Sheen.
